Four consecutive courses of will train graduate students of various majors such as Korean Studies, East Asian Studies, Social Sciences, and History of Science, to cultivate the ability to comprehend original texts written in Chinese characters of their own major field. This course is not just training students in comprehension of the texts, but also cultivating the ability to identify the bibliographical characteristics of the material and linguistic characteristics of Classical Chinese written, which eventually will lead students to perform more scientific understandings of Classical Chinese texts. will cover texts of Collections(集). among traditional classification methods, Canon(經), History(史), Teachers(子), Collections(集). Students will obtain a general understanding of Canon texts with bibliographical knowledge, and develop comprehension by understanding the transformation of the texts over time and characteristics of Classical Chinese writing determined by detailed classification, which overall enhances the literacy of classical chinese texts.

DKL2020 Modern Korean Poets 3 6 Major Bachelor - No
This course will concentrate the poets who played an important role in development of modern Korean literature from the 1920s through 2010s. This course will help students comprehend the characteristics of the poets in general as well as specific poems with the study of poets as a background. Including biographical information, the students will comprehend the relationship between poet and work from a variety of viewpoints and perspectives. In this class, the students will understand these poets' ideologies and the characteristics of their poems, the interrelations of the poet and period. In addition, they will examine the results and limitations of existing researches about these poets. In this way, the students will gain the ablity to comprehend individual poets, the basic ability to understand poetry.

It aims to enhance the analytical ability of literature by in-depth understanding of various literary theories of the 20th and 21st centuries. Through this lecture, we develop the ability to apply literary theory to the analysis of literary works. Also, the history of Korean literature is reviewed as a history of theoretical response.

This course is to build basic knowledge of Korean grammatical units and understand the concept of morpheme, word, and word structure. This course proceeds from the basic morphological concepts to the analysis of word structure, and the examining of word formation. Furthermore, focusing on the newly coined words, this course helps students to explore the mechanism of word formation.
