ERP4001 Creative Group Study 3 6 Major Bachelor/Master - No
This course cultivates and supports research partnerships between our undergraduates and faculty. It offers the chance to work on cutting edge research—whether you join established research projects or pursue your own ideas. Undergraduates participate in each phase of standard research activity: developing research plans, writing proposals, conducting research, analyzing data and presenting research results in oral and written form. Projects can last for an entire semester, and many continue for a year or more. SKKU students use their CGS(Creative Group Study) experiences to become familiar with the faculty, learn about potential majors, and investigate areas of interest. They gain practical skills and knowledge they eventually apply to careers after graduation or as graduate students.

TESL001 Methodology of Teaching Language 2 4 Major Master 1-5 English Yes
This course is designed provide a foundation for English language teaching. Theories of first and second language acquisition and their implications for English language classroom teaching will be discussed.
TESL002 Child English Education and Bilingualism 2 4 Major Master 1-5 English Yes
Issues and problems in child English education in Korea will be discussed. Relevant theories and empirical studies will be introduced and the role of teacher, and the kind of input desirable for child learners will be discussed.

Participants will develop knowledge and confidence in using materials for teaching English as a foreign language at the elementary and secondary levels. They will learn techniques for evaluating existing texts and materials and ways of using them effectively and in a more communicative way.

The course will focus on the nature of the language acquisition process, and the identification and description of the factors that affect language learners.
TESL006 Classroom Interaction 2 4 Major Master 1-5 English Yes
Various kinds of interaction that occur in the classroom, such as the one between teacher and the whole class, teacher and the one student in the class, learner-learner interaction, or group interaction will be examined in their interactional patterns and the degree of activeness. Also, the acquisitional effects of these various interaction types will be discussed.
TESL007 Phonetics for Language Education 2 4 Major Master 1-5 English Yes
The course will begin with articulatory and acoustic phonetics, the study of which will provide students with an introduction to experimental phonetics. Next,it will survey sounds of the world’s languages and then address issues in speech perception and acquisition. The course will help students understand universal aspects of speech, language, and sound systems so that teachers/learners of second languages may bridge language differences in a coherent manner.
TESL008 Research Methodology for English as a Second Language 2 4 Major Master 1-5 - No
Research methodology is introduced for phenomena and processes of the acquisition of English as a second language. Research planning, conducting and data analysis will be discussed and the class will evaluate studies in the literature from the perspective of research methodology.
TESL009 English for English Teachers 2 4 Major Master 1-5 - No
The goal of this course is to help students improve their abilities to manage classroom activities, attract and maintain students' attention through clear instrcution and direction. English language factor for those abilities will be provided in this course.
TESL010 Studies in English Grammar 2 4 Major Master 1-5 English Yes
This course takes a linguistic approach to the rules of sentence grammar. Course objectives are to provide a foundation that will help students describe structural patterns and explain how rules interact in the formation of sentences.
TESL011 Instruction for Language Skills 2 4 Major Master 1-5 - No
Students will understand the processes of four language skills, reading and writing, listening and speaking, and how to apply them to teaching four language skills. Overall theoretical framework will be connected to the actual classroom teaching. Depending on the instructor's course design, one or two of the four skills may be concentrated on.

Linguistics and other fields of studies that are related to English education will be introduced with new possibilities for application to English education.
