Starting in 2025, Sungkyunkwan University Graduate School of Translation and English Engineering will replace Sungkyunkwan University Graduate School of Translation and TESOL.
The Graduate School of Translation and TESOL, which has been steadily cultivating great talents since its establishment in 2000, has been reorganized into the Graduate School of Translation and English Engineering from the first semester of 2025 and has started anew. The rapid development of generative artificial intelligence and the changing times that are approaching rapidly require the cultivation of talented people suitable for it. Reflecting this trend of the times, Sungkyunkwan University Graduate School of Translation and English Engineering aims to contribute to cultivating key talents needed in the future society by becoming an institution to cultivate translation experts and English experts who can use engineering knowledge and tools skillfully and critically.
Students of Sungkyunkwan University's Graduate School of Translation and English Engineering can get opportunities to take part in micro-degrees and take convergence courses thanks to the schools abundant artificial intelligence curriculum and infrastructure. Based on the translation and English education courses that have been leading the way in the Department of Translation and Technology for the past 20 years, students can acquire professional knowledge and acquire skills to apply linguistic knowledge through engineering education including programming and data analysis at the same time. The knowledge gained from the Graduate School of Translation and English Engineering will provide an opportunity to advance into the specialized fields such as Korean-English translation, education, and publishing, as well as companies and science and technology research institutes.
