- 2022 English Language and Literature Department General Alumni Association will be held The alumni association of the Department of English and Literature (President Kwon Oh-sik) held the 2022 Year-end Party at the Faculty Club of the 600th Anniversary Memorial Hall on December 15 (Thursday). - The 26th Sungkyunkwan Family Award Administration Office of College of Confucian Studies and Eastern Philosophy & Liberal Arts receive the Sungkyunkwan Family Award at the 26th Sungkyunkwan Family Awards held in the first meeting room of the 600th Anniversary Hall on December 16. The Sungkyunkwan Family Award was established in 1997 to reward professors, employees, students, and those who have contributed greatly to the development of the school by practicing the teachings of benevolence, righteousness, propriety and wisdom(仁義禮智) based on the founding philosophy of Sugichin(修己治人). The Administration Office of College of Confucian Studies and Eastern Philosophy & Liberal Arts received the Excellence Award in the administrative sector in recognition of its contribution to improving teacher and student satisfaction and strengthening research skills through consumer-centered active administration.

- Kim Na-yeon, a Russian Language and Literature student, won a Public Diplomacy Academic Research Paper Contest Kim Na-yeon, a student of the Department of Russian Language and Literature, won the Encouragement Award at the 2022 Public Diplomacy Academic Research Paper Contest held in November. She is the only undergraduate among the winners. The Korea International Exchange Foundation and The Korean Association for Public Diplomacy will conduct a competition to promote interdisciplinary research on public diplomacy, and the panel will comprehensively evaluate and examine academic contributions, practical contributions, and completeness. Kim Na-yeon won the Encouragement Award for her research paper titled "K-Food as a Pioneer Model of Korea-Russia Culture and Public Diplomacy: Focusing on Creating a Model for Its Sustainability and Practicality." Kim Na-yeon said, "I want to help raise Korea's international status through K-Food's globalization in the future," adding, "I always thank Professor Kim Sang-hyun for supporting and helping me with my dream." The award-winning paper is published on The Korean Association for Public Diplomacy's 『The Public Diplomacy: Theory and Practice』.

- The 2022 Literature and Information Department J Cube Data Scholarship Delivery Ceremony The Department of Literature and Information at the College of Liberal Arts held a ceremony to deliver J Cube Data Scholarships for the 2022 school year at the president's office on December 1. In the 2022 school year, five scholarship students were Won Se-young (17), Yoo Jong-seok (18), Jung Ji-soo (19), Song Kyung-min (20), and Jeong Tae-yeon (20), and Kim Jong-kook (90) of J Cube Data Co., Ltd., who contributed the scholarship, participated to deliver and encourage the scholarship. The event was attended by Lim Kyung-seok, president of the College of Liberal Arts, Shim Won-sik, professor Kim Young-sik, and officials from JCube Data Co., Ltd. to celebrate the scholarship students. The J-Cube Data Scholarship is a scholarship fund featuring Kim Jong-kook (90), the CEO of J-Cube Data Co., Ltd., and is paid to students in the literature and information department every school year.

- The College of Liberal Arts held the ‘2022 College of Liberal Arts Fair’ The College of Liberal Arts held the ‘2022 College of Liberal Arts Fair’ for two days on November 14(Mon) and 15(Tue) ahead of the 2022 major entry period for students in the humanities science. Ten departments (Korean Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, French Language and Literature, Chinese Language and Literature, German Language and Literature, Russian Language and Literature, Korean Literature in Classical Chinese, History, philosophy, and Library and Information Science) from the College of Liberal Arts participated in the event. The event was held from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., and each department's booth was operated at the business school piloti from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., and department professors held a department briefing session in the humanities center' lecture room from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Emergency Measures Committee of the College of Liberal Arts produced a major fair booklet containing all department information and provided students with high-quality information that could be used when entering the major. In addition, a unique day event was held to form a fun major fair. Each department has formed a unique booth that reveals the identity of the department, such as a movie theater and a Christmas party, and received great response from participating students. This College Liberal Arts major fair was successfully conducted by effectively providing various information on the major to students who want to enter the major and double majors through a briefing session by department professors as well as booths. It also provided a good opportunity to build a bond through exchanges between participating students and major students.

The 60th National High School Essay Contest Sungkyunkwan University’s College of Liberal Arts(Dean Lim Kyung-seok) successfully held
on Friday, October 29th, 2022. It has been held to improve high school student’s emotional cultivation and crave for literature writing since 1960. The faculty of Korean Language and Literature Department and the established writers have supported it. The contest after the 59th contest in 2019 was put off due to the COVID-19. The loosening of social distance system let it be held in three years. More students took an interest than the previous contest like relieving their disappointment during the social distancing period. Also, 464 students out of 597 students participated in the contest and recorded more numbers than the previous contest. 30 students including 2 fist place got on the winner’s list. Kim Chae-ryeong, Anyang Art High School 1st grader won the first place in a poetry part and Kim Do-yeon, Goyang Art High School 2nd grader won the first place in a prose part. Kim Do-yeon will benefit from Yulgok Scholarship (50% of tuition fee for two years after admission) when entering this school. - Lim Kyung-seok, president of the College of Liberal Arts was selected as the winner of the the 16th Lim Jong-guk Award The Lim Jong-guk Memorial Association announced on the November 8th that it selected Lim Kyung-seok, a professor at Sungkyunkwan University, as the winner of the 16th Lim Jong-guk Award and the ‘Oka Masaharu Memorial Nagasaki Peace Museum’ as the winner of the social category. Professor Lim served as a member of the Pro-National Action Committee and chairman of the Korean History Research Association. He made achievements in research in the field of the socialist movement during the Japanese colonial period. His principal publications are ‘Independence Movement Fierce 1 Finding the Forgotten Case’ and ‘Independence Movement Fierce 2 Finding the Forgotten Person’, etc. The judging committee evaluated, "Professor Lim directly refuted the existing conventional wisdom, contributing to expanding and popularizing the horizon of the independence movement history." The Nagasaki Peace Museum, which won the prize in the social category, is a historical museum built by citizens in 1995 to continue the maintenance of the late Oka Masaharu, who took the lead in holding Japan responsible for the war. The museum is voluntarily operated by citizens without government support and has informed the reality of Japanese colonial rule and invasion war through exhibitions, lectures, and exploration. It was evaluated that it contributed to the liquidation of East Asia's past by continuing the peace movement without wavering despite the difficult conditions in which far-right forces are rampant. Lim Jong-guk (1929-1989) is a historian and literary critic who took the lead in researching pro-Japanese issues and clearing the past by writing "Pro-Japanese Literature Theory" since the Korea-Japan agreement was signed in 1965. The award ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. on the November 11th at the International Conference Hall on the 9th floor of the Seoul Global Center. - “59th exploration of historical sites was held” - Visiting Changdeokgung and establishing a venue for harmony between professors and students for the first time in three years Sungkyunkwan University's Korea Librarian Education Center (Director Shim Won-sik) held the 59th exploration of historical sites at Changdeokgung on October 29. The Historic Site Exploration is an annual field trip conducted by the Korea Librarian Education Center, providing an opportunity to experience history while exploring historical sites, while enhancing a sense of belonging as a librarian education student and promoting friendship between students and professors. It has been temporarily suspended due to the outbreak of COVID-19, but it has been held again in three years. The event was attended by seven instructors, including director Shim Won-sik and professor Kim Young-sik, administrative office staff, and 40 students and a total of 48 participating. Participants gathered at Donhwa Gate of Changdeokgung to take commemorative photos and watch Changdeokgung with cultural and tourism commentators. After the group viewing, each class had a meeting with professors to feel and communicate with the mood of autumn through individual viewing. Park Joon-hee, president of the student council, said, "It was a valuable time for students and professors to share their concerns about their studies and explore their careers through a historical expedition." Director Shim Won-sik then wrapped up the event with a greeting, saying, "I would like to express my gratitude for the safe completion of the event with a large number of people participating in a long time, and let's all work together for the development of the Korea Librarian Education Center."
