German Language and Literature

This interdisciplinary course, 'Comparative Culture', is run in connection with language-related departments and the humanities. Our goal is to cultivate specialists with creativity and pragmatism to actively deal with the globalized and complex cultural era.

This course started in 1999 as a collaboration with liberal arts subjects with the Korean Language and Literature at the center through a master program, and was given permission to open a Ph.D. program in 2002, and undergraduate program in 2004.

In this course, we have endeavoured to lead an interdisciplinary approach to research on a variety of issues that encompass philosophy and modern/ premodern thought, literature, history, art, and music, across regional or language barriers. We place importance on students having the freedom to conduct research based on their individual interests, relying on their own intelligence and intuition without being limited to preconceived approaches in existing academic frameworks.

We are looking forward to welcoming local and global students who may be seeking to go beyond the existing methodologies of disciplines, who may be proficient in multiple languages and academic concerns.
Students who take all course and pass the general examination could be granted a master’s degree of comparative culture or could obtain a doctorate in cross culture.
