In the 21st century, when the boundaries between humans and machines, real and virtual, are disappearing due to the development of artificial intelligence, where are the fundamental values of mankind and what are the future prospects? How can human dignity be demonstrated in the age of artificial intelligence? The problems of the present and the future are solved through Dostoyevsky, the great writer of Russia. Dostoevsky is considered one of the most modern classical writers, who uncovered human mysteries. In this course, through reading Dostoevsky's novels deeply and broadly, we analyze his aesthetics and ideas and interpret the modern values of classics in various dimensions.

The primary purpose of this course is to explore the so-called “Russianness” as an essential theme reflected in 19th century short stories, with about 15 works beginging with the early 19th century through the end of the century.

Slavic is a language family including Russian, Czech, Polish, Bulgarian, Serbian, Croatian, and Macedonian. This course aims to discover the similarities and differences in basic expressions of these languages. Students will learn basic expressions of Slavic languages, and the relationship between the modern Slavic languages and Common Slavic/ Church Slavic. Academically, students can compares a series of languages to discover similarities and differences, and in practical, the course has the advantages of learning how to use the basics of Russian and Eastern European languages.
