This course enables learners to understand language communication methods and contents realized through various media (print media, broadcasting media, Internet media, etc.), and explore effective communication methods according to the characteristics of the medium. Also, This course enables learners to understand the characteristics of languages used in printed media such as newspapers and magazines, broadcast media such as television and radio, and internet media such as blogs and SNS. And learners can understand what the differences in language appear in these media. In addition, this course allows learners to understand what is the difference between everyday language and language in these media, and to understand the social implications of language expression in media.

This course has the significance of broadening the textual horizons of Korean literature research. This course attempts to reconstruct the literary field through modern poetry collections, novels, magazines, newspapers, fanzines, censorship materials, diaries, letters, pamphlets, and posters. As the concept of a literary field was introduced to the study of Korean literature, literature as an institution, medium, or media attracted attention. Learners can directly experience the materiality and aura of media containing content, and study the way the content, themes, context, aesthetics, institutions, censorship, publication, network, and capital make up literature through this textual reality. This will give new inspiration not only to literature research but also to education and appreciation. Furthermore, learners will improve your curriculum professional skills in dealing with books.

This course explores the methodology of cultural studies and criticism, focusing on the main concepts, to develop research capacity for Korean literature and culture. By combining the major issues of modern criticism with the major issues of cultural studies, it promotes the depth of expansive criticism studies and cultural studies. This course examines the works of major literary and cultural theories in the 20th-21st century, and systematically analyzes Korean literature and cultural data.
DKL5129 Studies on Korean Publishing Media : History of the Present 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 - No
The history of Korean literature and culture has been developed in an inseparable relationship with the publishing culture from the traditional era to the present day. This course starts with 1) a reflection on the fundamental problem of the relationship between Korean literature and the publishing media, and 2) examines the history of how the publishing culture since the late Joseon Dynasty has transitioned to korea modern tjme. In addition, 3) Recognizes a new method of dealing with materials in publishing media, and 4) deals with the reality of today's Korean publishing culture and essential matters about the new media era. This course ultimately develops a deep perspective to study the history of Korean literature and culture in the past and present. In this course, experts in each field, such as the Korean Publishers Association, 1)~4) are invited to study together. It is a common curricula spanning the cultural research track, digital Korean literature & linguistic track, and curator track that Sungkyunkwan University's BK21 Korean Literature & Linguistic Project Group aims.
DKL5130 Research on data analysis of contemporary Korean literature 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 - No
Sub-title of Class- This class aims to make a new interpretative attempt on the text of modern and contemporary Korean literature by applying various analytical methodologies of quantitative language analysis based on the database of modern and contemporary Korean literature data accumulated so far. In this class, as in the subtitle of the class, certain categories of modern and contemporary literary texts are grouped (this can be a writer-specific, ideological terrain, or literary orientation). We would like to cluster the text with the criteria of language, place, and time to examine the characteristics. This semester's class will start with a 신소설. We plan to digitize the works of Lee In-jik (이인직), Lee Hae-jo (이해조), and Choi Chan-sik (최찬식), the representative writers of the 신소설 and conduct a study to compare the linguistic characteristics of each author and map the place and time in the text. The original text entry and contrast work will be carried out using the Wiki platform and will be released so that anyone can see the digitized works. After working on the literature, we use Python to analyze the form of the form, extract keywords, and learn the machine. Final research results drawn at the end of the semester will also be posted on Wiki.

Digital humanities is still an expression that collectively refers to cases of humanities research in various forms using computer technology and web environment, and there is no general convention as a single discipline or methodology in a universally verifiable form. As a result, it is still difficult to clarify the definition, and it is not easy to accept digital humanities as academic. it is also true that as computer technology and the web environment are constantly developing, the influence of digital media in the communication system between humans is gradually increasing, and accordingly, the necessity of understanding the digital data environment as a new communication channel is gradually increasing. It is no exaggeration to say that keywords such as digital, computer, data, web, and artificial intelligence have already penetrated deep into our daily lives. we will look at various humanities research cases that actively utilize computer technology and web environments, and then summarize the context of digital technologies applicable to humanities research. The main purpose of this lecture is to develop a digital-based research methodology that can be used in Korean literature research through such a process. In order to actively utilize computer technology and web environment for humanities research, it is essential to practice the process of curating humanities data based on a basic undunderstanding of database technology and web programming.

This course aims to study the gender problems in Korean classical literature produced under the Confucian patriarchy and to critically reinterpret the gender inequality of the society and its literary reflection. The purpose of this course is to understand the logic and theoretical structure of language communication based on public language, and to establish the basis of public language policy by expanding and applying it. In order to expand discussions on public language policy, it is necessary to approach the basic concepts, theories, and application processes of public language through relations with language policy. By understanding and grasping language-related knowledge, language policy, history and direction of discussion of communication theory, issues and core structures, develop deep language research skills and vision.
