The purpose of this course is to understand the logic and theoretical structure of special language-based communication through discussion of the theory and application process of special language-based communication systems such as sign language and braille. In order to expand the discussion on language welfare policies, it is necessary to develop the concepts, theories, application processes and application capabilities of the underlying language welfare. By understanding and grasping the knowledge, language policy, history and direction of discussion of communication theory, issues and core structures, we will develop deep research skills and vision.

The purpose of this course is to understand the structure and design of big data, which is the basis of AI artificial intelligence, and the theoretical system related to it, and to develop the ability to acquire and apply the necessary knowledge. In order to understand the discussion about big data and develop the ability to utilize it, it is necessary to develop the theory that is the basis of processing linguistic materials and the ability to apply it to the process of cooperation with industrial demands. By understanding the structure of the discussion process and theory regarding the processing and utilization of linguistic materials based on national language informatics that have been discussed so far, and understanding the procedures for applying and linguistic materials by big data analysis and fostering deep research ability and vision that can utilize it.

It is no exaggeration to say that keywords such as digital, computer, data, web, and artificial intelligence have already penetrated deep into our daily lives. In the midst of such rapid changes in communication media, we will look at various humanities research cases that actively utilize computer technology and web environments, and then summarize the context of digital technologies applicable to humanities research. The main purpose of this lecture is to develop a digital-based research methodology that can be used in Korean literature research through such a process. 〈Digital Korean Literature Research Methodology 1〉, which was opened earlier, focused on writing 'MediaWiki' electronic documents and designing 'Ontology', and focused on basic practice of constructing database and humanities data. On the other hand, this course goes one step further, compiling ‘Graph Database’ and focusing on ‘Network Analysis’ practice and ‘Digital Atlas’ production. In the process, students will also experience the experience of looking back on the value of traditional language and literature research through new communication media in a digital environment by directly compiling data in the field of Korean literature that they are interested in.

This seminar delves Korean literature from the perspective of citizenship and locality/regionality. It explores the relationship between Korean literature and citizenship, and examines the history and present of local literature. While examining the genealogy of Korean literature discourse combined with citizenship, it deals with the relationship between literature and space by examining the regional sources of Korean literature.

The purpose of this course is to understand and practice the historical trajectory by looking at the various achievements of feminist cultural studies. Through this class, students learn that feminism since the second half of the 20th century has grown into cultural critics and studies that criticize the male superiority system and logic inherent in everyday life experiences, art and literature works, popular culture texts and images and suggest alternative cultures. We will also understand that the process was parallel to the growth of feminist movement and theory. For this purpose, reading of relatively well-known books and articles on feminist culture studies at home and abroad, exploring the field of contemporary feminist cultural studies, and designing students' own research will be conducted.

Hallyu, Korean pop culture, is in an high demand, with tv-series, films K-Pop across the globe, from the Euro-American cultures to Afro-asian cultures. This seminar series, the receptions of Hallyu culture in each region is analyzed in depth. Also, it focuses on the relationship between popular culture and Korean literature, and pays attention to the mediation phenomenon of literature into culture. In the case of international students, depending on their nationality, they can conduct a case study on the Hallyu phenomenon, and Korean students will be able to examine the translingual or trans-regional phenomena between source and translation.

The purpose of the class is to explore the data analysis methodologies specialized in Korean culture, including the research methodologies of qualitative and quantitative analysis. Discussions on methodologies for pre-processing of original texts, machine analysis techniques that can be used for language extraction, data structuring through data sets, data visualization and data literacy will be supported.

DKL5154 Studies on Korean Literature and Culture in the Modern Transition Period 3 6 Major Master/Doctor - No
The modern transition period was a time when the foundation and aspect of literature faced a major transformation and expansion. The positions of Korean literature in Chinese, which used to be the center, and Korean literature, which constituted the periphery, were reversed, and the material and institutional foundation of literature was dramatically expanded with the introduction of modern literal media (newspapers, magazines, books, phonetic alphabets, and printing). In addition, lively literature (oral aspect) was mediated through media technology such as gramophone, radio, and film introduced at the same time, so that it could be not only communicated at the time but also stored and passed down to future generations. Based on the characteristics of literature in the modern transition period, this subject understands modern literal media and media technology as a new literary field, and studies the foundation and aspects of classical literature that has been revived with a new foundation and method, apart from the promotion of modern literature. Through this, we criticize the narrow perspective and non-empirical nature of the disconnected view of literature that is misplaced between classical literature and modern literature, and try to explore the aspect of acquiring 'eternal presentness' by establishing classical literature as a source of modern cultural content.

This course aims to study the development of civic culture and the Korean classical poetry created and enjoyed in late Chosun Dynasty. The cities were formed and commodity currency economy developed in late Chosun Dynasty. Civic culture developed around Seoul and the lives and emotions of urban people were reflected in poetry. The middle class was judged to have done remarkable literary achievements at this time, we need to pay attention to various aspects of civic culture. The students examine the meaning of poetry creation in the middle class as well as sadaebu, and study the structure and literary meaning of important works.
